Farm Stewardship
BCWA has encouraged and assisted farmers in the watershed to utilize best management practices by installing fencing (to exclude livestock from streams), adding watering systems, and high-use cattle crossings.
BCWA has also worked with farmers with stream bank stabilization and riparian buffer plantings along the creek.
Education
Beaver Creek is also a good background for educational purposes. The stream has been used for workshops and consultation, fieldwork studies, outdoor classrooms, presentations and publications, public forums, and teacher training.
Stream Monitoring
The creek is monitored for water quality, temperature, and macroinvertebrates. The state of Maryland conducts surveys to monitor the fish population.
Volunteers
BCWA works with other conservation groups to maintain trees and shrubs that have been planted over the years. Without volunteers, young and older, the work on Beaver Creek could not have been done. Keeping a healthy stream require a lot of volunteer work. The BCWA appreciates all the work and efforts volunteers have provided over the years. Thank you!
